LANGUAGE MATTERS, Why is Legacy Media Handling the MAGA Cult with kid gloves?

Legacy media has handled the Trump cult with kid gloves for far too long. They accuse MAGA’s talking heads of “shading the truth” when everyone knows they’re lying through their teeth. They speculate about “Trump’s strategy” when anybody smart enough to pour urine out of leather footgear knows his only goal is ever increasing thievery. They respond to a burgeoning flood of daily outrages and travesties with logical treatises and calm, reasoned rebuttals—as if rhetoric has ever worked against rabid, fascist animals!

I’m here to call out that pusillanimous hesitancy for what it is: Appeasement and Villainy. Every single time another sociopathic MAGA enabler lies, I intend to call it a lie. Every time Drumpf stabs another of our allies in the back to line his pocket, I will label it what it is: Treason! And every time they accuse someone else of their own sins, I will call that out, not as mere hypocrisy, but as the knowing, calculated strategy employed by congenital liars and sociopathic criminals—because that’s what they are!

Though ordinary idiocy is a common, defining quality of most cult-members, it doesn’t characterize them all. In every such group, those at the top are exemplified by a different defect; the complete inability to feel guilt. The technical term for such a person is “sociopath.” They can no more experience regret or remorse than a blind person can hear a rainbow. They laugh and joke with each other as they commit genocide and ethnic cleansing, and then nominate one another for Nobel Peace Prizes. They condemn millions to penury, robbing them of access to medical care, and then try to wrap themselves in that last refuge of a scoundrel, fake patriotism. They pretend to know nothing about plane rides, a private island, and deviant sexual activity at the highest levels. They’ll even look you full in the face and swear that a certain list doesn’t even exist.

High-functioning sociopaths usually learn to mimic the behavior of normal human beings. But if you look closely, they can never get it quite right. Expressions of sympathy come across as stilted, smiles as forced. Something about their eyes sends a shiver up your spine. Ted Cruz is a good example of this—though he is far from the only one. Of course the MAGA Supreme Leader is sociopath; yet he does have one saving grace. He’s an incompetent boob, a bumbling jackass, a fumbling fool, apt to let you see the knife an instant too soon. After barely six months, his butterfingered bungling borders on the burlesque. It would be funny if he weren’t endangering the entire world.

The time for rational discussion is over. Reasoning with starving mongrels in an unguarded butcher shop would produce a similar result. We must unite, preparing for the midterms like maddened zookeepers trying to snatch hand grenades away from gibbering chimpanzees. But we must also call out Republicans for being the congenital liars, the incompetent jackasses, and the sociopathic criminals that they are.
